Virgil Shaw

Virgil Shaw’s
innovative fresco technique uses oil paint to create ghostly landscapes
of rugged textural depth. His paintings have a sculptural quality, as though carved by the elements of nature rather than labored by the brush of an artist.
He describes his paintings as “light
through an old building, projecting all past and present, life and
death, and cigarette yellow smoke, on a small whale bone canvas.
